A scavenger's meal
I looked around this bare pantry tonight and found these items that made a fairly nice meal. Certainly nothing fancy, but it was good. I had an Orange Roughy filet in the freezer, a 99-cent package of Kroger brand Dirty Rice, and some frozen green beans that I steamed. I lemon peppered the orange roughy and broiled it in a toaster oven. Yay! at "cooking for one."
Of course I did the uncouth thing and washed it down with whiskey and Diet Coke...

That looks like too many beans for me! :-) ... The fish looks delicious - I love fish.
But what is "Dirty Rice"?
Sorry for sounding rude, but I have to agree that you "did the uncouth thing."
Diet Coke?!!
Whiskey with anything other than ice / water / soda is sacrilege ;o)
Aw, c'mon...your a physician. You gotta know that whiskey works more quickly on an emptier stomach. In fact, I have this down to a science. If you finish 1.5 half-n-halfs (1/2 whiskey, 1/2 whatever made in a 12-oz glass) in seventeen minutes prior to eating, you can maintain a healthy level of "smooth" for the rest of the night, providing you don't eat even one more grain of rice than is shown above.
And then there's the calorie control aspect. I'm a post-menopausal 52-year-old broad (and I use that term loosely). I can't be spending all of my calories on food! ;-)
